ProtaStructure : Creating Members with Mirroring

Creating Members with Mirroring

The "Mirror" command can be used to facilitate the creation of the members in symmetrical buildings.

After completing one part of the floor plan, the other part can be generated with the mirror command. To mirror the elements:

  1. Select/ Multiple-select the members that will be mirrored.
  2. Choose the "Mirror" option  in the shortcut menu (displayed by right-clicking after selection).
  3. Pick an axis that is going to be used as the axis of symmetry for mirroring.
Note that, if such an axis does not exist, you can create one and delete it after completing mirroring.
  4. The "Mirror Characters" tab will be loaded.

Beam Wall Loads and Wall Opening can be mirrored as well.
  5. Click "OK" button to start Mirror objects.
Axes perpendicular to the axis of symmetry will be extended automatically to create intersections with the mirrored axes. For example, the Axis B in the GIF below is automatically extended so the mirrored column can be inserted in the intersection point of Axis B and Axis 1'.
