Linked Model Manager with Examples

Linked Model Manager with Examples

User can find "Linked Building Model" from  Building Setout > Linked Model Manager.

Function of Linked Model Manager is to manage link connectivity between merged model project and imported model project. It will only work when two models are merged via “Import Only the Foundation Columns” option.
Extra care should be taken when merging building foundation via "Import Only the Foundation Columns" to prevent any issue at later stage. For step-by-step merging building foundation, kindly refer to Merge Building Models: Merging of Building Foundations
Imported members will not be shown in analytical model.

Project Manager tab

This tab will show the imported model project and other information. In "Link Management" tab, user can choose to update analysis result or remove columns and walls in the project.

For better explanation of each option in Link Management tab, this example will use Model_A and Model_B as imported model project and merged model project respectively. Model_A is imported to Model_B via "Import Only the Foundation Columns" option.

1) Update All Columns and Shear walls of the Selected Project
This option imports the latest analysis result of columns and walls from Model_A to Model_B. For example, whenever the analysis result of Model_A is altered, user can use this option to transfer modified analysis result to all imported members in Model_B.

2) Remove the Reference of the Selected Project
     a) Delete All Columns and Walls of the Selected Project: This option removes all the imported members in Model_B.
     b) Un-Link All Columns and Walls of the Selected Project: This option removes the link connection between Model_A and Model_B without deleting the imported members in Model_B.

3) Update the Link Information of All Columns and Walls of the Selected Project
This option updates the link information between Model_A and Model_B if there is issue with the link connectivity.
